Into the Wild Blue Yonder

We set off yesterday (wow, yesterday?) very jubilantly from Merseyside at approximately 6am. We were all reluctant to admit how nervous we were, but equally as excited to be going! We arrived at Manchester airport, gathered our team and battled through security. We made it after much re-packing and were on the plane waiting for take-off. Who isn’t nervous about take off? Apparently Jay wasn’t, he was fast asleep as soon as the plane started moving on the runway! We set off 10.51 from Manchester and arrived in Philadelphia for our connection at 13.17. I am sure we all wished our flight lasted only 2h 26, but we crossed a time zone and were on board for around 8 hours.

Our first leg of the journey was done, now a stop-over in Philadelphia to stretch our legs and catch up on some fuel and a few world cup results. Next was a shorter journey to Salt Lake City. This was a lower altitude flight so we got a chance to take in some of the stunning terrain we will be experiencing in Yellowstone and some beautiful skylines. We landed in Salt Lake City exhausted, but happy we had made it!

Yesterday we travelled 5627 miles and through two time zones and had 4 hours sleep in two days, but we arrived in Salt Lake City safe and sound with this amazing view from the plane as we were landing, one of the most inspiring sunsets I have ever seen. Bring on Yellowstone Park!
